Cell phone Appropriate Age?

I feel children may use a cell phone if they are going somewhere and the parent would like an opportunity to reach their child or for obvious safety reasons. Otherwise to have a phone of their own, I would lean toward 16.

I said 10 to 13 because many parents work and this is the age where kids venture farther from their parents. I would have liked to be able to get in touch with my kids at ANY time unless it’s between 8 and 3 p.m.
