Neat and Nifty Names
Talk together about your names and nicknames. Ask each other the following questions: What is the story behind your name? Does your name have a special meaning? How was it chosen? What do you prefer that others call you? Talk together about the importance of sharing family stories and the power of positive nicknames.
Bonus: Follow it up with a name game. Start with the youngest person’s name, and think of a positive adjective that describes that person, using only the first letter of the person’s fist name. For example, Susan might be Sparky Susan. The person to the right would say Sparky Susan is also spunky. The next person would say Sparky Susan is spunky and smart. After everyone adds an alliterative description, continue onto the next person’s name.
